What’s new on Paramount+ in June 2023

June may be unofficially the month of Star Trek on Paramount+. Starting on June 1, the first 10 Star Trek movies are officially coming home to Paramount’s streaming service. And on June 15, the long-awaited second season premiere of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will take viewers back to the prequel era a decade before the events of the original season. Fittingly, a young James T. Kirk will have a much bigger role this season than he did in the first season.

Fortunately for non-Star Trek fans, Paramount+ also has a wide selection of movies that are joining its lineup this month, including Arrival, The Social Network, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Say Anything, and more. This month also marks the third season premiere of the iCarly revival, which has some pretty devoted fans of its own. To keep you up to speed on the new arrivals, we’ve assembled this full list of everything coming to Paramount+ in June 2023, while also sharing our recommendations in bold.

And if you subscribe to other streaming services, we also have helpful guides to the best movies on Netflix and best shows on Netflix, as well as the best movies streaming on Amazon and best TV shows streaming on Amazon, plus plenty of guides for Hulu, Disney+, and HBO Max.

What’s new on HBO and Max
Lily-Rose Depp and Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye in The Idol.

HBO Max as we knew it is gone. And in its place is Max, the streaming fusion of HBO and Discovery. So far, the shows on the Discovery side are definitely not to our taste. However, the HBO and Max originals for June are some of the most exciting content this year. In the first weekend of the month, Lily-Rose Depp is headlining The Idol as s Jocelyn, a pop star on the verge of a major meltdown who falls under the sway of a cult leader named Tedros, played by Abel "The Weeknd" Tesfaye. Judging from the show's early screenings at Cannes, this may be HBO's most controversial series since Euphoria.

In the middle of the month, the dark comedy The Righteous Gemstones will return for its third season, with the titular Gemstone family facing a fresh set of challenges as they try to hold on to the wealth and power they've amassed from their empire of churches. These HBO shows are accompanied by a powerhouse lineup of new and classic films, including three different versions of A Star is Born and the streaming premiere of Avatar: The Way of Water.
