Three loot 1kg gold biscuits worth 65L
Surat: Surat jeweller was looted of 10 gold biscuits weighing one kilogram worth Rs 65 lakh in Bhatar road area on Tuesday.
The incident took place when an employee of Ghoddod Road-based Sonal Jwellery Pvt Ltd, Rajesh Shah, went to show the gold biscuits to potential buyers.
Based on a complaint, the police have registered a case against four including a woman.
According to the case details, Shah along with his collegue Rajesh Jain, on the instructions of his owner, went to show the bullion to one Madanlal Shah, who is known to the owner and has reference of potential gold buyers.
Shah went near Kapadiya Health Club in Bhatar road area and upon reaching the spot, went to the car with number MP-09-ZN-9738 inquiring for Madanlal.
Two persons seated inside the car told him that Madanlal was nearby. Madanlal approached the car with one more person and a woman.
The man sat in the driving seat and instructed Shah to sit beside him and asked for the gold. Shah showed him the gold.
The man alighted from the car and asked Shah to follow him behind the car where the man offered to pay through cheque.
Shah refused as he was instructed to get money transferred into jeweller’s account. At this, the man attacked Shah and hit him on his eye and fled with the gold in his car.
Khatodara police inspector RK Dhuliya told TOI : “Madanlal was known to the jeweller.
“He came in contact with Indore woman a few months ago who gave him reference of the looters saying that they wanted to buy gold. We have identified the persons who are from Indore in this connection. We will arrest them soon.”
