COIMBATORE: A 35-year-old woman was murdered at Chinna Thadagam in the district on Monday. The incident came to light on Wednesday when the murderer surrendered before a judicial magistrate.
The deceased, M Chithra, a native of Theni district, was working in a hospital in the city and was residing alone in a house at Mariamman Temple Street in Chinna Thadagam.
Police said she was seeing C Madurai Veeran, 37, from Silukkuvarpatti in Dindigul district.
“Madurai Veeran recently came to know that she was having an affair with another man. On Monday, he went to her house and picked up a quarrel. In a fit of rage, he picked up scissors and stabbed her. She suffered injuries on her face, neck and abdomen and died,” said a police officer.
Madurai Veeran locked up the house and went to his native place. On Wednesday, he appeared before the judicial magistrate court at Nilakottai in Dindigul district and confessed to his crimes.
The Dindigul district police alerted the Thadagam police here. A team rushed to the house and recovered the body. It was sent to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
Police also registered a case against Madurai Veeran.
