NEW DELHI: A 64-year-old woman and her daughter were found murdered in their flat in Krishna Nagar on Wednesday. Police are probing if there was a robbery.
The deceased were identified as Rajrani and her daughter Ginni Karar (30). They lived in the E Block of Krishna Nagar in Shahdara.
Police got a PCR call at 8 pm on Wednesday from the neighbours who said a foul smell was emanating from the flat. A police team that entered the flat on the first floor found the rotting bodies in the hall. The police said they may have been murdered four-five days ago. “Blood spots were found. The bodies were infested with maggots,” an officer said. A sharp-edged weapon was used to kill them, he said.
Things were found scattered in the flat.
After her husband’s death, Rajrani and Ginni had been living in the flat. The police are probing the role of known people, including the house help. “The flat had a twin locking system, one at the entrance gate and another at the main door, which could be opened only after authorisation,” DCP (Shahdara) Rohit Meena said.
Rajrani had retired from Akashvani. Her daughter was studying. The police said they are scanning CCTV cameras of the society to get clues in the case. The cops have informed the victims’ relatives about the murders and have questioned five to six people.
“We suspect that multiple people might be involved in the murder,” an officer said.
A case under the section of murder was registered. Searches are going outside the city to catch suspects.
