Bokaro: The appointments committee of the union cabinet on Wednesday approved the appointment of Amarendu Prakash as the chairman of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).
The order was issued by the secretariat of the Cabinet Appointments Committee of the Union government.
Prakash, who assumed charge on Wednesday, has served as the director-in-charge of Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL). He was previously chosen as the future SAIL chairman by the public enterprises selection board on April 12.
“His tenure as the SAIL chairman will span five years from the date he assumes office or until his retirement, whichever comes first,” a SAIL officer said.
Known for his comprehensive knowledge and impressive performance record, Prakash has gained popularity among his peers. “The employees and officers of BSL expressed great joy upon witnessing their director-in-charge getting promoted to the position of SAIL chairman,” said A K Singh, the president of the Bokaro Steel Officers’ Association.
