Jaipur: The JMC-Greater administration will start a 21-day ‘Swachh Jaipur Swastha Jaipur’ campaign from Thursday to promote yoga in the city.
Mayor Somya Gurjar held a meeting with different stakeholders and over 50 yoga gurus on Wednesday in this regard. She said the campaign’s aim is to ensure 10-minute yoga sessions at offices and organising of yoga sessions in different wards of the city.
The mayor said that on the occasion of World Yoga Day, a 21-day ‘Yoga Mahotsav’ will be organised in every ward and colony of the city with the theme of “Har Aangan Yog, Har Ghar Nirog”.
“Keeping in view the good health and stress-free life of the residents of Jaipur, we have planned this programme on the lines of the union government. Yoga programmes will be organized at different places for 21 days. It will start on Thursday from 9.15am to 10.15am in the south garden of the corporation headquarters, where officers and employees of the corporation will perform yoga,” the mayor said.
She further said that through these yoga programmes, all housewives, youth, children, and elders will be motivated to do yoga, “because it is necessary to have a healthy society for the development of the country and through yoga, we can achieve this.”
A yoga
guru who was part of the meeting on Wednesday said, “Under this initiative, different programmes related to yoga, like classes and practice, will be organised in every ward and on Yoga Day, a culmination all these programmes will take place. We want to unite people from different walks of life through yoga and we appeal to as many people as possible to join this yoga festival.”
