GHAZIABAD: A man was booked on Tuesday for allegedly sharing morphed photographs of a woman with her friends and colleagues. Cops said a 34-year-old executive, working with an MNC in Noida, filed a complaint saying the incident has caused mental trauma and she was unable to go to the office.
The accused has been identified as Prabhat Ranjan Shukla, a resident of Sector 53.
The woman told police that she had been in a relationship with Shukla until August 2018. She was living in Gurgaon at the time. In December 2018, she got engaged to another man.
“After the engagement, Shukla started talking to my fiancée and told him about our relationship, due to which our engagement broke off. Then, I shifted to Ghaziabad and started working in Noida. But he continued harassing me by sending my morphed pictures to my friends and colleagues and using abusive language towards me,” the woman stated in her complaint.
A few days ago, Shukla sent edited pictures to her team leader. “I came to know about it after my team leader called me. He informed me the accused has been sending pictures and messages to other colleagues and friends on social media as well. Next month, I am about to get engaged for the second time. So, I wanted to end these things. Since my future fiancée supported me, I filed a police complaint,” added the complainant.
Shukla has been booked under IPC Section 507 (criminal intimidation by anonymous communication) and sections of the IT Act.
“Action will be taken against the accused after the investigation is complete,” said
Vivek Yadav, DCP (trans-Hindon).
