Dam drained for phone: Another officer faces action
RAIPUR: Three days after a food inspector was suspended for draining water from a reservoir in search of his mobile phone, the Kanker district administration in Chhattisgarh has recommended disciplinary action against a subdivisional officer of the water resources department (WRD) for allegedly granting verbal permission to pump out water.
Food inspector Rajesh Biswas was suspended after he had 4,014 cubic meters of water pumped out of the Paralkot reservoir over four days in an attempt to find his mobile phone that had fallen into the dam while he was taking a selfie with friends.
Biswas claimed in media statements that he had discussed the issue with SDO R L Dhivar of the water resources department before draining the reservoir. tnn
