Kidnapper of Kalighat kid held in Bihar

KOLKATA: Probing into the kidnapping of a 10-month-old child who was picked up from a wedding at Kalighat eight days ago, cops have arrested the man, Bikram Rai, who had abducted the kid, from Bihar’s Danapur on Monday. The child was rescued the day after the abduction and the brain behind the kidnap was also arrested last week.
While attending the wedding at Bharat Sevashram Sangh in Kalighat on May 21, a woman couldn’t manage her baby who was crying inconsolably. She was approached by a stranger who offered to calm the child down. Assuming the stranger was from the groom’s family, the mother handed over her son to him.
The family lodged a complaint with Kalighat PS where SI Sadhana Sardar took over the probe, scanned CCTV footage to track Rai.
