Mysuru: As various layouts in Krishnaraja assembly segment is facing drinking water problem, Krishnaraja MLA TS Srivathsa, who is also city BJP unit chief, on Monday inspected the Bidaragodu pumping station on Mysuru-Nanjangud border from where Kabini water is pumped to Mysuru to supply drinking water to parts of the city.
The MLA collected information from the officials regarding the supply of drinking water to the city from the pumping station, which mainly caters to the drinking water needs of the Krishnaraja segment.
Officials said that currently only 60 MLD (Million Litres per Day) of water is being pumped from the station and supplied to the city.
They said that
Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWSDB) is implementing phase II of the Bidaragodu drinking water project for pumping of an additional 120 MLD of Kabini water to Mysuru city. As the project is in progress, once the pipeline laying work is completed, the city will get 180 MLD from Kabini project which would ease the drinking water crisis. The project also aims to supply water to new layouts coming around the proposed Peripheral Ring Road in the city.
The MLA said that he inspected the pumping station to study problems in the drinking water supply, distribution system following complaints of drinking water problems in his constituency.
He said that he is studying the details of which wards of his constituency are receiving water from Kabini and KRS dams to take corrective steps to ease the drinking water crisis.
Mayor Shivakumar, MCC commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy, superintending engineer S Mahesh, Vani Vilas Water Works executive engineer Suvarna and others were present during the inspection.
