Varanasi: Villages that are now under the limits of Varanasi Municipal Corporation will soon start getting urban facilities such as strengthening of sewage, drainage and water supply system. The water works department has prepared a detailed proposal and sent it to UP Jal Nigam to get it sanctioned under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (Amrut) 2.0.
According to general manager of Varanasi Jal-Kal, Raghuvendra Kumar, proposal for providing drinking water supplyline in areas including Marahauli, Phulwaria, Sandaha, Susuwahi, Seergowardhanpur, Ramduttpur, Ledhupur, Lohta, Kandwa, Lalpur, Mirapur Basahi, Pisaur, Salarpur and Ramrepur has been forwarded to UPJN. Once the proposal is sanctioned, work will begin soon. Currently, availability of water in these areas is ensured under rural schemes, he said.
There is also proposal for laying sewer lines and water supply lines in areas including Sujabad, Chhittupur, Shivdaspur, Salarpur and Manduadih, which have also been merged in city limits. All complaints regarding sewage overflow and leakage in water supply lines are being tackled promptly.
Kumar also said that routine repair work to check leakage in sewage and drinking water supply lines in areas including Tulsipur, Kakarmatta, Birdopur, Bhelupur, Shivala, Ghasiyaritola, Pitarkunda, trans-Varuna and Ramapur is done timely.
He also highlighted pre-monsoon preparations being made to clear silt from the sewage lines and drainage to avoid waterlogging during rains.
