Accused in double murder case caught

Surat: Surat crime branch and Chowk Bazar police on Monday arrested an accused in a double murder case from near Dahod bus stand. During investigation, Akshay Katara (21) made shocking revelations about why he killed Kaushik Ravat (21). He told the police that Ravat was having an affair with his wife and that Ravat had killed his own wife too after the latter had come to know about his extra marital affair.
Police sources said: “Kaushik Ravat was an old friend of Akshay Katara’s wife and both were in a relationship. Katara and Ravat’s wife Kalpana Ravat (18) came to know about the duo’s affair. However, all of them had an altercation over the affair and on Sunday, Ravat strangulated Kalpana and later, along with Katara went to dispose of the body in the Tapi riverbank.”
After Ravat disposed of his wife’s body at a deserted place near the riverbank, Katara killed Ravat for having an affair with his wife.
Crime branch official said that when the duo were going in auto rickshaw to dispose of the body, they again entered into altercation. “Disturbed over the developments, Katara thought that Ravat, who did not even spare his own wife over his love affair and was already angry with him, will not spare him either. This led him to kill Ravat and he later fled to Dahod from where he was nabbed.”
