    Karnataka increases Dearness Allowance for state government employees, pensioners

    ​"Government are pleased to enhance the rates of Dearness Allowance payable to the State Government Employees in the 2018 Revised Pay Scales from the existing 31% to 35% of Basic Pay with effect from 1st January 2023," the release from the state government said.

    Karnataka's state government on Tuesday increased the rate of Dearness Allowance for state government employees by four percent, bumping it up to 35% from the existing 31%.

    In a circular, the government announced that the change would be in effect from January 1 of this year.

    "Government are pleased to enhance the rates of Dearness Allowance payable to the State Government Employees in the 2018 Revised Pay Scales from the existing 31% to 35% of Basic Pay with effect from 1st January 2023," the release from the state government said.

    In addition, the new Siddaramaiah-led government also announced that the rate change would be applicable to pensioners too.

    "Government are also pleased to enhance the rates of Dearness Allowance from the existing 31% to 35% of the Basic Pension/Family Pension with effect from 1ª January 2023 to the State Government Pensioners/Family Pensioners as well as Pensioners/Family Pensioners of the Aided Educational Institutions whose Pension/ Family Pension is paid out of the Consolidated Fund of the State," the release adds.
