NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Thirty-five of the 446 government primary schools in Gautam Budh Nagar will be developed under the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN).
The initiative aims to ensure that every child in the country compulsorily acquires foundational literacy and numeracy by the end of class 3 by 2026-27.
According to officials, all government primary and composite schools in the district have been given a deadline of December 2023 to achieve the NIPUN status.
Raj Singh Yadav, District Institute of Education and Training principal of GB Nagar attributed the , the low success rate to the ongoing summer break in schools. "Once the schools reopen, the teachers' training will be prioritised across the district."
In Ghaziabad, 21 of the 389 schools have been selected under the central government's initiative. "The Basic Siksha Adhikari (BSA) office in Ghaziabad informed that 41 schools would take the NIPUN assessment test. Our team, comprising two DIET mentors, BSA and other officials conducted the tests in these schools. Total 21 schools cleared the test and were given NIPUN status. Once schools reopen after summer break, we will again conduct the test in July," Sudhir Jaiswal, DIET mentor and lecturer, said.
