RBI Annual Report: Provisions, forex gains hit record highs in FY23

A 50 percent increase in the central bank's foreign exchange gains helped it transfer Rs 87,416 crore as dividend to the central government in 2022-23

The RBI's accounts for 2022-23 were approved by its central board of directors on May 19.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) made both record provisions and foreign exchange gains in 2022-23, according to its annual report released on May 30.

In 2022-23, the Indian central bank made a provision of Rs 1.31 lakh crore, up 14 percent from 2021-22. At the same time, its gains from foreign exchange transactions jumped by nearly 50 percent to Rs 1.03 lakh crore.
