HYDERABAD: The high temperatures across Telangana have claimed five more lives, including that of a police constable, in the last few days.
A 41-year-old police constable of Karimnagar district, who was the gunman of a former MLA, died when he returned home after being on duty for five days. The constable, Madhukar of Garrepalli village in Sultanabad in Peddapalli district, was residing at Bhagathnagar in Karimnagar town. Madhukar complained of giddiness and started vomiting during the night. Later, he collapsed in the bathroom. The family had to break open the bathroom door and found Madhukar on the floor. He was rushed to hospital, where he was declared dead on May 26.
In another incident, a 78-year-old woman of Raikal in Jagtial district died reportedly due to the heat. She was staying in a tin-roof shed. A 35-year-old woman, Sunitha of Thulisya Thanda in Karepalli village of Khammam, who was working in the hot, sun fell ill on May 26. She was taken to a hospital, but succumbed.
A 40-year-old man, Aziz, of Maripeda in Mahabubabad district, died on May 28 in the city.
Aziz, who ran a pan shop, fell unconscious on reaching his house. The family took him to a hospital in Khammam, but was advised that he be shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad. He died while undergoing treatment.
A 58-year-old man, Devadas of Nemmikal in Suryapet, who also suffered sunstroke and admitted to Gandhi Hospital, died on May 28. Devadas was a ‘vana sevak’ helping in the Haritha Haram work and engaged in developing a village park for the last two years. He was brought to the hospital on May 26 and died two days later.
