Police looking for teen escapee from juvenile facility in Canton Township
CANTON TWP. − Authorities were looking for a 17-year-old boy who escaped on Monday afternoon from the Multi-County Juvenile Attention System.
"He scaled the fence today and is considered an escape from the juvenile facility," Stark County Sheriff George Maier said in a text message late Monday afternoon. "We have not located him, so we are asking the community to call if they see him."
Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the youth is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at 330-430-3800.
The Sheriff's Office was made aware of the escape just before 2 p.m., Maier said. The Stark Attention Center, 815 Faircrest St. SW, is a 30-bed facility that serves male youth under the age of 19, according to Multi-County's website.

The Canton teen was in the facility on an assault charge, Maier said. Other law enforcement agencies, including Canton police, were made aware of the escape, he added.
The teen is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs around 200 pounds.
As of 5:30 p.m., the youth had not been located.
The Multi-County Juvenile Attention System is a regional juvenile justice campus that oversees several operations: A group home, a residential treatment center, and the community corrections facility for juvenile crime offenders.
The Faircrest Street site (Stark Attention Center) includes a community corrections facility in a building that also houses the detention center on the upstairs floor.
