Panaji: Parts of Goa received light rainfall and thundershowers on Monday bringing the much-needed respite from the heat and humidity. Ghat areas of Chorla and adjoining Bicholim and Sattari talukas received the pre-monsoon showers as clouds moved in the southwest direction.
The India meteorological department (IMD) had forecast light rain and thundershowers till May 31.
“Thunderstorm and lightning with gusty winds ranging from 30-40kmph are very likely at isolated places over Goa on May 30. Light rain and thundershowers are very likely at isolated places on May 31,” the IMD forecast read.
Even as the summer comes to a close this season, the maximum temperature was 36 degrees C on Sunday, 2.3 degrees C above normal. On Monday the temperature increased slightly to 36.4 degrees C.
