3 accused get life term in 2017 murder case

Mapusa : The additional district and sessions court, Mapusa, on Tuesday convicted three accused and sentenced them to undergo life imprisonment in connection with the 2017 murder case of history-sheeter Tyrone Nazareth.

The accused have been asked to pay a fine of `10,000 each.

The murder had taken place on June 24, 2017 around 11.30 p.m. at the Calangute fish market. 

Three people – Joseph Sequeira, Ceon Fernandes and Mahesh Rampal – had attacked Nazareth with deadly weapons.

The injured Nazareth succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the North Goa District Hospital.

The three accused were arrested on June 27, 2017, and since then  they have been in custody.

A chargesheet in the murder was filed by the then Calangute police inspector Jivba Dalvi before the court on September 20, 2017.

The deceased was a history-sheeter and was released on bail four days before the incident. 

Trial was  held before additional district and sessions judge Kshama Joshi, who after hearing arguments of both parties convicted the

three accused. She sentenced them to undergo life imprisonment and imposed a fine of `10,000 each.
