Rahul Gandhi travelled with truck drivers on the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway last Monday night and listened to their problems. He shared a video of his “yatra” on social media.
In the video, Gandhi is seen wearing a white T-shirt and sitting inside a truck with a driver and a conductor. He also talks to other drivers at a dhaba in Murthal.
“Interesting conversation with truck drivers in six-hour Delhi-Chandigarh journey! Spending 24 hours on the road, they unite every corner of India,” Rahul said in atweet in Hindi. He also posted the link of the full video on his YouTube page.
According to a party statement, Gandhi met a group of truck drivers at Murthal while on his way to Shimla. He decided to join Prem Rajpoot from Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh in his truck and had a wonderful conversation with him and his companion Rakesh.
The video says that three crore Indians are directly employed in the truck industry and there is a demand for nine lakh new truck drivers every year.
