    South Africa, a signatory to the International Criminal Court (ICC), has issued an order granting Russian President Vladimir Putin diplomatic immunity to attend BRICS Summit in Durban in August.

    Ahead of the BRICS foreign ministers' meeting on Thursday, the South African government granted diplomatic immunity to all participating officials, including Putin.

    South Africa has shared warm ties with Russia since the days of the Soviet Union as the anti-apartheid movement received strong support from the Soviet Union.
