Bldg fall: Centre gives ₹2L each to kin of dead

Thane: The Centre has sanctioned ex-gratia in the case of building collapse in Bhiwandi last month that killed eight persons and left 10 injured, Kapil Patil, Union minister of state said on Monday.
Patil, who represents Bhiwandi Lok Sabha constituency said in a release that the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund will pay Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of the dead and Rs 50,000 to those seriously injured in the accident. The BJP leader said most buildings constructed in Bhiwandi taluka 15 to 20 years ago have become dilapidated and he has urged the state government to go for structural audits of these structures so that corrective action can be taken to avoid loss of lives.
