VIJAYAWADA: A 55-year-old woman, who is said to be neglected by her two sons and was staying alone with her bedridden husband for six years, cremated him inside their house without informing anyone after he suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away on Monday.
The incident was reported from Pathikonda in Kurnool district.
According to Pathikonda urban circle inspector K Murali Mohan, Lalitha and her husband P Hari Krishna Prasad (60) run a medical shop in the locality.
Their two sons are doctors, with the elder son Dinesh (32) working in a private hospital in Kurnool, and the younger son Mukesh (30) settled in Canada. She told police that her husband, who was suffering from various ailments and had been bedridden for the last six years, passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest on Monday morning.
Mohan said the woman was disturbed and depressed as her sons were not taking care of them and she had been taking care of the medical shop alone while taking care of her bedridden husband. "She told us she decided to cremate her husband's body herself without her sons as they never cared to help or look after them when they needed them the most," he said.
