Mercury unlikely to cross 40°C this week in Delhi
According to the weather department, the maximum and minimum temperatures on Tuesday may hover around 34 and 19 degrees Celsius, respectively
NEW DELHI: With onset of a fresh western disturbance, Delhi saw cloudy weather with widespread drizzle accompanied by cool and gusty winds on Monday. The city will continue to get respite from extreme heat for the next seven days.
While the maximum temperature may start to increase from Thursday onwards, it is unlikely to breach the 40 degrees Celsius-mark this week, stated India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The city's base station, Safdarjung, received 7.5mm rainfall till 8.30am on Monday, while 1.2mm was received between 8.30am and 5.30pm. Pusa received maximum rainfall at 17mm till 5.30pm. Other areas which received rain of very light intensity included Palam, Lodhi Road, Ridge, Ayanagar, Najafgarh, Pitampura and Mayur Vihar.

Meanwhile, the air quality of the city remained moderate. The air quality index, on a scale of 0 to 500, was 136 against 134 a day earlier.
