BAREILLY: A man who had duped nearly 5,000 investors across the state of over Rs 10 crores through his chit fund company was arrested along with his aide Jitendra Kumar by Bareilly police on Saturday evening.
The director of the company Roop Kishora Gola alias RK Gola was booked at the Premnagar police station based on the complaint filed by investors. On the instructions of SSP Prabhakar Chaudhary, multiple teams were deployed in this case.
According to police, the accused Gola used to work as an insurance agent in Bareilly in 2008. Later, he started his own company named Image Career Limited (ICL) and hired hundreds of agents across the state to convince customers to invest their money.
Initially, Gola distributed profits among the investors and the agents. However, for the past few years, the company refused to return the invested money even after the maturity period of the investment ended. Sub-inspector Saurabh Yadav said, "There were multiple cases registered against the two accused across the state. Gola had cheated many investors and we have sent him to jail. Efforts are being made to recover the money."
