Delhi: Man stabs 16-year-old girlfriend 20 times to death, arrested

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend in Delhi's Rohini area on Sunday evening, reported The Indian Express. They reportedly had a fight over an issue, following which the boyfriend, Sahil, stabbed her multiple times and crushed her head with stones. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal reacted sharply to the incident, targeting Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena over law and order breakdown.

Sahil reportedly stabbed the girl 20 times outside her house in Shahbad Dairy in Delhi's Rohini area, the police said. The incident was caught on CCTV cameras, and the footage showed a knife lodged in the victim's head at one point. Sahil later allegedly took a huge slab of cement lying nearby and began striking her as passersby went by, but no one intervened.

According to the police, Sahil and the deceased were in a relationship but had a fight on Sunday. "On Sunday, the deceased was planning to attend her friend Neetu's son's birthday. The accused Sahil intercepted her and stabbed her multiple times," said an officer. A case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 302 (murder) has been registered against the accused, who has been arrested.

Reacting to the incident, Kejriwal attacked the L-G and tweeted, "A minor girl is brutally murdered openly in Delhi. This is very sad and unfortunate. The criminals have become fearless, there is no fear of the police. L-G sir, law and order is your responsibility, do something." "The safety of the people of Delhi is of paramount importance," he added.

Taking cognizance of the incident, Delhi Commission for Women Chairperson Swati Maliwal tweeted, "The audacity of criminals in Delhi is alarming. Issuing a notice to the police. All limits have been crossed. In my entire career, I have never witnessed anything as horrifying as this."
