JEPC seeks action against 25 private schools in Ranchi
Ranchi: The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) has written to 25 private schools across Ranchi warning them of disciplinary action for not uploading student and school activity data on the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) portal.
Since 2019, the Union HRD ministry’s UDISE portal gathers real-time data from schools which offer classes from pre-primary to Class XII and uses it for planning, optimising resource allocation, implementing various education-related projects and evaluating progress.
JEPC has also written to CBSE and the Board of Indian Certificate of Secondary Education in New Delhi urging them to take disciplinary actions against these schools. Of the 25 institutes, 21 are affiliated to CBSE while the rest are affiliated to ICSE.
JEPC officials claimed that despite their repeated letters, these schools uploaded information pertaining to less than 60% of their total students. The school managements were given three deadlines which were even extended but they did not comply. Several of them are yet to begin data assimilation, the JEPC officials claimed.
Non-compliance to the UDISE policies would also result in cancellation of their affiliation from their respective boards, the JEPC stated. Some of Ranchi’s front-ranking English medium schools also feature on the list of non-compliance.
Ashish Kumar of JEPC’s Ranchi district said: “The private schools were issued multiple reminders and the deadlines were extended thrice but even then, the data of all the students in these schools are not available. As per May 21, only 74.31% of the students across Jharkhand had their data uploaded on the portal.”
