WRD stops drilling of illegal borewell

Canacona: Water resource department (WRD) led by assistant engineer and junior engineer, has stopped illegal drilling of a borewell at Saturlim in Gaondongrim. The machinery and vehicle used for the job was seized.
The WRD assistant engineer requested the public not to drill illegal borewells or open wells without the permission of the department’s groundwater officer. It is also noted that the drilling agency must be registered with the WRD, failing which the subsidy from the agriculture department will not be released.
Similarly, a drill used to dig an illegal borewell at Avali in Cotigao was seized.
