BEGUSARAI: A 21-year-old trader, who was found lying unconscious with grievous head injury, near Sheori Ghat under Manjhaul police outpost area in Begusarai district, succumbed to his injuries at PMCH on Sunday.
According to police, Shambhu Sahni, a native of Manjaul-2 panchayat, used to run a garment shop in Manjhaul Bazar. He was first brought to local sadar hospital, but the doctors attending him later referred him to PMCH where he succumbed to his injuries.
Co-villager Vijay Sahni said a group of boys, who go for morning walk daily, spotted Shambhu lying unconscious. "He was suffering from serious head injury and locals suspecting he was stabbed by criminals, rushed him to the hospital," he said.
However, the postmortem done on Shambhu's body on Sunday revealed that a bullet trapped inside his head was taken out. His family members said the postmortem indicates that he had been shot dead.
Manjhaul police outpost SHO Ajit Kumar said, "We are yet to get the postmortem report. Shambhu had been to jail for two-three months on the charges of lifting a motorcycle and he used the garment shop only as a cover for his misdeeds."
