Coimbatore: Electricity minister V Senthil Balaji gave away 39.11 lakh worth government aid to 111 beneficiaries at ‘Kodai Vizha’ valedictory function in Valparai on Sunday.
After five years, Kodai Vizha was conducted at Valparai for three days from Friday.
Participating at the valedictory event of the festival on the Valparai Government Higher Secondary School premises on Sunday, Senthil Balaji said necessary steps would be taken to conduct Kodai Vizha every year at Valparai.
The DMK government has completed two years and 85% of poll promises were fulfilled within two years, he said. “Chief minister M K Stalin announced 9,000 crore worth a metro rail Project, a tech city project and many other projects for Coimbatore district. Small numbers of town buses were operated in Valparai and the free bus travel for women was not effectively implemented here. The issue would be taken to the knowledge of the chief minister and will take steps to implement the free bus travel for women in Valparai.”
Senthil Balaji also laid foundation stones for four new projects worth 30.3 crore in the Valparai municipality. He inaugurated seven projects completed at a cost of 13.55 crore. He handed over old age pension to 76 beneficiaries, free patta for 11 people and 33.5 lakh worth loan to six self-help groups (SHGs).
He also gave away prizes to the winners of online photo competitions.
Collector Kranthi Kumar and other officials participated at the event.
