GURGAON: On the first day of the polio drive on Sunday, 60% of the city’s target was achieved.
A three-day Pulse Polio Immunisation (PPI) drive began in the city on Sunday , in which children up to 5 years of age were given polio drops. A total of 1,547 booths have been set up and at least 3,78,346 children will be covered under the drive. A total of 162 mobile teams and 5,408 vaccinators are involved.
“We achieved 60% of the target on the first day. Polio drops were administered to 2,25,953 children at the booths on Sunday. Monitored by members of WHO, we will also see a mop-up drive on Wednesday where the left-out children can receive the polio drops,” said Virender Yadav, chief medical officer of Gurgaon. TNN
