Ludhiana: Returning home after dropping off his son, who was going out of town, a labourer was allegedly assaulted by three assailants and robbed of his motorcycle at Satsang road in Jamalpur early morning on Sunday. The accused attacked the man with a sharp-edged weapon, leaving him severely injured. They then fled away with his bike.
The injured has been identified as Rajesh Kumar (50) of Jamalpur, who is a factory worker. He suffered sever injuries on his elbow and was admitted to the hospital, where he underwent a surgery. The incident was captured on CCTVs installed in the area. The police are trying to identify the accused from the footage.
Victim’s son Sumit Kumar said that he had to go out of town for some work, so his father had dropped him near Veer Palace at around 4am on Sunday. When his father was returning home, three miscreants on a motorcycle stopped him on Satsang road, and attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon.
He added the accused tried to hit his father on the head, but his arm got injured while saving his head. The accused then fled away with the motorcycle. His father reached home and informed him about the incident, after which he returned home and rushed him to the hospital.
Jamalpur police station house officer (SHO) inspector Bikramjit Singh said the victim has been admitted to hospital, and the doctors have declared him unfit to record statements. Meanwhile, the police are trying to trace the accused using the CCTV footage.
