NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has heightened security arrangements in the city ahead of the inauguration of the new Parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. They have asked MCD to permit them to set up a temporary jail at a school.
In a letter to the deputy commissioner of MCD on Saturday, a DCP-rank official wrote: "...It is also learnt that Khap Panchayats of various states supporting wrestlers protesting at Jantar Mantar have announced to call a Mahila Maha Panchayat at New Parliament House building."
The order read that people coming from Haryana may try to enter New Delhi and create a law and order situation.
Hence, Delhi Police has decided to create a temporary jail at a school in Kanjawala.
