RAMGARH: Divya Kumari, a private security guard's daughter who topped the intermediate science examination conducted by Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), is now a "celebrity" in Ramgarh. Ever since the results were declared on May 23, district officials, VIPs and top businessmen have been trooping down to Divya's house appreciating her for winning the top position and extending support for her future career, including monetary offers. The district administration, big business brands and a team of doctors have also come forward to help the meritorious student pursue her dream career. Soon after the results were declared, Divya told TOI that wanted to become a doctor.
A student of the Gandhi Memorial +2 High School in Ramgarh town, Divya has also become a role model for youths. Meanwhile, a big brand jewellery merchant, Sushil Kumar Gupta, who has no daughter on Saturday announced in a media briefing at his showroom, in which Divya was present, that he would extend financial help needed to the topper to pursue the MBBS. Kumar gave Divya a cheque of `Rs 25,000 as initial help and a silver memento.
Earlier on Friday, a big automobile showroom in Ramgarh town invited Divya as the chief guest for launching a new model of a scooter. Divya comes from a BPL family and her family gets subsidized wheat and rice from the Antodaya ration card issued to her father Aslok Bihari
Rama. Her school principal Santosh Kumar Anal said DEO Neelam Kumar informed Divya will get free medical entrance test coaching provided by the district administration.
Rama said Divya went to Ganinath School in the locality for her elementary classes. Later, she joined a charity school run by an NGO, Devine Omkar Mission, from where she passed her Class X exam with 93% marks.
