KOTA: A 16-year-old girl preparing for medical entrance examination hanged herself to death from a ceiling fan at her uncle's house in Kota on Saturday, making it the fifth suicide by a student in the Rajasthan coaching hub this month alone, and the tenth such case this year.
Sakshi Choudhary, who hailed from the state's Tonk district, was a class XI student. She, along with her two sisters, had been living with her uncle, who worked as an assistant engineer, at Kota Thermal Power Plant colony.
According to police, Sakshi's suicide note indicated that no one was to blame for her decision. Cops suspect the recently announced results of her 10th grade exams, in which she scored an average first-class percentage, coupled with the pressure of studies for the tough National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), may have caused her stress and anxiety, eventually driving her to take the extreme step.
Sakshi had joined a coaching institute in the 9th grade, DSP Shankar Lal, circle officer of Kunhari area, said.
The body was handed over to her family after the postmortem. Police registered a case of unnatural death under CrPC section 174 and have started further investigation to ascertain the cause of her death.
