Prayagraj: While taking action against unauthorised chain pulling in passenger trains running under Prayagraj division , 648 persons were arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) from January 2023 to May 25, 2023.
“Indian Railways has installed emergency alarm chains in all the coaches of passenger trains for the convenience, safety and use of its passengers in case of emergency. But many times chain pulling is done unnecessarily by the passengers due to which other passengers have to face trouble, our drive is against these passengers”, said public relation officer (PRO), Prayagraj Division,
Amit Singh.
A total amount of Rs 9,145 was realised from 82 persons at Prayagraj Junction, 58 persons were fined Rs 8,795 at Kanpur railway station, 79 persons were fined with Rs 6,820 at Etawah railway station, and 105 persons were fined at Aligarh railway station with a total sum of Rs 27,975. Along with this, by conducting awareness campaigns from time to time in the schools and villages around the station, it is explained by the RPF not to pull the alarm chain without proper reason.
Legal action is being taken against those who are involved in unauthorised chain pulling by registering cases under section 141 of the Railway Act. In the said act there is a provision of fine of Rs 1,000 or imprisonment of one year, or both”, explained the PRO.
