‘PM avoided JPC on Adani issue as he is afraid of own MPs’
Nagpur: Congress party’s national spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh said that Narendra Modi avoided a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the Adani-Hindenburg saga, because “the Prime Minister is afraid of some of his own MPs”.
He hinted that one such MP “is celebrating his birthday today”. Coincidentally, Saturday was birthday of a senior BJP MP from Vidarbha.
“BJP has the maximum number of MPs, and hence will have a greater representation in the JPC. Still, Modi did not go for it,” said Vallabh, who was in the city as part of a nation-wide campaign of Congress.
“Today we are releasing a book called ‘9 years, 9 questions’ in which simple questions are being asked to PM Modi. We are asking the PM to break his silence on real issues,” he said.
“We want him (PM) to tell us as to how the price of petrol doubled? What happened to the compensation for families of Covid-19 victims, and how crony capitalism is helping a few people in the country amass wealth,” said Vallabh.
On Congress’s decision to boycott the inauguration of the new Parliament building, Vallabh said if the President of India inaugurates the new building, then the party will be there in the first line applauding.
Asaduddin Owaisi, Lok Sabha MP and president of AIMIM, too was in the city for a party event. He said the honour of inaugurating the building should go to the Speaker. “The custodian of the Lok Sabha is the Speaker, not the Prime Minister," said Owaisi. “If the Speaker Om Birla inaugurates it, then we will definitely go,” Owaisi said.
