NEW DELHI: An 18-year-old man was stabbed to death by a group of five boys in east Delhi's Kalyanpuri. The incident took place on Saturday early morning, and he was stabbed 21 times.
A preliminary investigation has suggested that there was old enmity between the attackers and the victim. The victim's family alleged they were threatened by a few people to withdraw a complaint against them.
The deceased was identified as Anshu, alias Banda, a resident of Trilokpuri. Police said they received information at 5.11 am regarding multiple stab injuries to Anshu. He was admitted to LBS Hospital by a PCR van.
DCP(East) Amrutha Guguloth said Anshu was referred to AIIMS, where he was declared dead.
Anshu's cousin brother Vishal said that like every morning, Anshu had gone for jogging, and he was a few metres away from the house when five people on a scooter and a bike waylaid him and started stabbing. The family members were informed about the incident by their neighbours. "We went to the hospital and spoke to Anshu. Later, he was referred to another hospital, where he was declared dead," Vishal said.
Vishal's father Rakesh said the incident was captured in a video, in which they saw that no one came to help Anshu even as the attackers were continuously stabbing him. "Earlier this month, a few people attacked my elder son Rohit. A day after the attack, they came to my house and threatened me and my family with dire consequences if we didn't withdraw the complaint," he said.
Speaking about the reason behind the previous attack, Vishal said those people had a suspicion that he was working as a police informant. He, however, added that a local policeman had asked him to arrange a phone number, which he did.
The family has chicken and dhol shops.
