Varanasi: Differently abled artistes from six states enthralled the audience with dance and other cultural performances at ‘Divyakala Shakti’ programme at Rudraksh international convention centre on Saturday.
It was for the first time the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) of ministry of social
justice and empowerment government of India co-ordinated event was hosted in any city of north India.
Following formal inauguration by the secretary of the department of empowerment of persons with disabilities Rajesh Agrawal, performances by artistes from UP, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha showcased their abilities.
Rini Bhattacharjee of WB surprised all with her song playing piano with her toes. Vocal performances of Ananya Bhardwaj of Jharkhand, Shaista Parveen of Bihar, dance performances by girls of Jivan Jyoti Varanasi, boys from Jagadguru Rambhadracharya Divyang Vishwavidyalaya Chitrakoot, Nav-Vani School Varanasi students, Korok Biswas of WB, Manasi Srivastava of Prayagraj, Rimpa Roy of WB, artistes from Institute for Handicapped and Backward People WB, Kiran Society Varanasi, Jharkhand Divyang Samiti and Satyavrat Sahu-Sagarika Sahu of Odisha left the audience spellbound.
A large number of differently abled persons with the volunteers of NGOs and other voluntary organisations registered under Rights of Person with Disability Act enjoyed the event and cheered the artistes.
District administration and the chief medical officers had ensured availability of ambulances and health team assistance at Rudraksh. Besides, the officials had also ensured availability of wheels chairs in sufficient numbers at Kashi Vishwanath Dham to facilitate the artistes when they visited there during their stay in the city.
