‘ASI must preserve idol found in Zuari’

Vasco: There’s has been a growing demand for the director general of the Archaeological Survey Of India (ASI) to take steps to protect the old idol of goddess Vijayadurga which was recovered from the Zuari rivulet in Sancoale some days ago.
In a letter addressed to the ASI, citizens stated, “ASI is responsible for the protection of archaeological sites and monuments in India, and we humbly request your kind attention to look into the idol of goddess Vijayadurga. The idol is an important artefact that dates back to the early medieval period.”
“Unfortunately, due to the lack of proper care and protection, this priceless artefact is at risk of damage and destruction. Therefore, it is essential to protect the idol from any adverse effects of climate, human intervention, theft, or other factors. It is crucial to take immediate steps to preserve and protect it for future generations,” the letter adds.
