Taking a sharp dig at the Opposition over them boycotting the inaugural event of the new Parliament building by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister of State for Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar on May 27 in Delhi said that such a step by the parties is beyond his understanding since the new Parliament is being made by India and is not a Colonial Parliament. He also launched an attack on the Congress party, blaming it for hiding the fact that the historic ‘Sengol’ played a symbolic role in Indian history. “When for the first time India gets a Parliament that is not a Colonial Parliament, then the Parliament that is Parliament of the country and is a shining symbol of democracy is being inaugurated, for parties to stay out of that, what common sense thinking MP will not participate in the inaugural event that is not built by the British. This is a petty politics to the worst level. This is ironical because there are parties that were controlled by families for decades and they are talking about autocracy and democracy. I think they should not embarrass themselves,” Chandrasekhar said. An intense political slugfest has been trigged between the Modi-led NDA Government and the Opposition over PM Modi inaugurating the new Parliament building. The Opposition parties have decided to boycott the event as they believe that it should be inaugurated by the President of India. The PM will also install the historic ‘Sengol’ in the Parliament during the inaugural event on May 28.
