Man arrested in Punjab's Khanna for carrying illegal weapons

LUDHIANA: Khanna police claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of illegal weapons by arresting one of its members. The police also seized five weapons from his possession. The accused was identified as Divesh (20) from Jhajjar district in Haryana.
SSP Amneet Kondal said that on May 17, the police party of Crime Investigating Agency (CIA) was checking suspicious elements. Near Qaddon Chowk in Doraha, an informer told the police one Divesh was roaming in the area carrying illegal weapons. She added that a case under sections of arms act was registered against him in Doraha Police Station.
Police officials said that Divesh was rounded-up during checking and five country-made 315 bore guns were recovered from his bag. They added that the accused was arrested in the case the same day.
Khanna Police said that police remand of four days was obtained and further investigation was carried out. It added that during investigation it was revealed that the accused Divesh had links with gangsters, in various states and used to supply weapons in Punjab.
