THANE: The Naupada police in Thane booked a man for allegedly depositing counterfeit currency notes of Rs 8,800 in the ATM deposit machine of the bank at Ram Maruti Road.
The police said the manager of the bank had filed a complaint against the customer who had deposited a total of Rs 13,200 in the ATM machine recently. Out of this, a total of Rs 8,800 was fake currency. Later the bank authorities, based on their internal investigation, found that the account holder, a resident of Mumbra, had opened an account in their bank.
"He had opened the account in March and had done a total of five transactions since then," said a police official quoting the complaint.
Earlier this month, a man went to the kiosk and using the cardless method deposited a total of Rs 13,200 in his bank account. The police said that they have launched investigations in the case and a probe is underway.
