Govt school teacher booked for sexually harassing minor girl in Delhi's Dwarka

NEW DELHI: An 11-year-old girl was allegedly sexually harassed by a government school teacher in southwest Delhi's Dwarka area, police said on Saturday. On Thursday, the girl along with her parents came to Dwarka South police station and gave a written complaint, they said.
In her complaint, the girl mentioned that she is a student of a government school in Dwarka and alleged that Amit, a teacher in her school, touched her on her back and shoulder in an inappropriate way, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) M Harsha Vardhan said.
A case under sections 354A (punishment for sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code and section 10 (punishment for aggravated sexual assault) POCSO Act was registered at the police station, the DCP said.
The child was provided with necessary counselling, police said.
Another complaint of similar nature was also received on Friday against the accused and a case under POCSO Act has been registered in the matter, DCP Vardhan said.
Efforts are being made to arrest the accused teacher, he added.
