Assaulted man dies

Mandya: A 20-year-old succumbed to injuries sustained in an attack at Borapura Gate in Maddur on Friday. Police said the deceased is Puneeth, a resident of Gurudevanahalli village. Puneeth was brutally attacked by a group of 10 people with logs and stones, police said, adding that they suspect he was attacked owing to financial issues.
Puneeth, who was lying in a pool of blood, was shifted to a government hospital in KM Doddi, and later to a private hospital in Mysuru where he breathed his last during the early hours of Friday, police said. The cops have taken some youths into custody and questioned them. Maddur Police are investigating.
