Jaipur: The court of the State Commissioner for specially-abled persons on Friday directed the Rajasthan University to establish a grievance redressal cell dedicated to specially-abled individuals. The court also ordered the university to compensate Dr
Vinita Nair, an assistant professor of philosophy, with Rs 25,000. Dr Nair was compelled to seek assistance from the commission due to the absence of a grievance redressal mechanism within the university.
The university has been given the freedom to recover the awarded amount from the responsible officer. The commission emphasized that its order must be fully complied with within a 30-day timeframe.
Highlighting the case, the commission noted the lack of a dedicated grievance redressal cell for specially-abled people within the varsity. This violates the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disability Act of 2016, it said. TNN
