THANE: The Vartak Nagar police in Thane recently informed that they have initiated steps to remove encroachment by the side of two dargahs on the Mama Bhanja hills adjoining Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Yeoor forest area.
This information was given by senior inspector Sadashiv Nikam to Sandeep Panchange, president of the Ovala-Majiwada Assembly of the MNS. Pachange had earlier given an ultimatum to the authorities to remove the encroachment near the place of worship in Yeoor, failing which he said they would build a temple for Lord Shiva near the site. He had addressed his memorandum-cum-ultimatum to the forest, revenue, corporation and police department.
Acting on the same, police official informed Pachange about the development and said that the officials were acting on it and he should not indulge in any act that can disturb peace in the locality. Similarly, MNS leader and Thane and Palghar in-charge Avinash Jadhav had also taken up the issue of unauthorised constructions in Mumbra after which his entry into Mumbra was banned by the local police. tnn
