LUCKNOW: The weather turned pleasant in the city on Friday with maximum temperature dropping about nine degrees Celsius below normal following overnight thunder showers in some parts of the state capital.
Similar conditions are expected on Saturday and Sunday, but temperatures will start rising gradually from Monday and are expected to touch 40 degrees Celsius mark by Friday (June 1), said Mohammad Danish, senior scientist at the state met department.
The maximum temperature on Friday was 31.2 degrees Celsius, 8.9 units below normal, and the minimum temperature was 20.6 degrees Celsius, 4.9 notches below normal. About 10 mm rainfall was recorded by the state met observatory.
On Saturday, the sky will remain partly cloudy and become overcast towards evening. There are possibilities of one or two spells of rain/thundershowers in some areas. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 34 and 20 degrees Celsius respectively. According to the state met officials, the change in weather conditions have been caused by several factors, including a cyclonic circulation over Pakistan and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir, a trough running from Sikkim to South UP and moisture incursion into the state's atmosphere from the Arabian Sea. A fresh Western Disturbance will affect the state on Sunday, but not last long.
Meanwhile, rain/thunderstorms were reported from the other parts of the state as well. More thunder showers are expected on Saturday and Sunday.
