BHAGALPUR: We all know ‘where there is a will, there is a way’. This is being proved by 24-year-old graduate Anayasha, who provides free education to slum children adjacent to the Bhootnath temple premises near Tilkamanjhi Bhagalpur University at Sahibganj locality in Bhagalpur at her ‘Didi Ki Pathshala’.
Anayasha hails from Kakwara village in Banka and stays at a rented accomodation in Bhagalpur with her parents and is preparing for the competitive examinations.
What started from one child, the ‘Didi Ki Pathshala’ which runs under the open sky near the temple from 4pm to 7pm, has now more than a dozen student, who aren’t enrolled in any school due to poor socio-economic conditions or some are even school dropouts. The children at the ‘Didi Ki Pathshala’ get copies, slates, chalks, pencils etc free.Taling about her ‘Didi Ki Pathshala’, Anayasha said that a few months back she had gone to Bhootnath temple to offer prayers. When she came out of the temple after worshipping, a large number of children gathered outside the temple to take ‘prasad’. After interacting with those children, she came to knew they were from the slum dwellers families and their socio-economic conditions are pathetic. Their parents could not afford to send them to schools and education was the last thing on their mind.
It was then that she decided to take up the onerous work to teach those children free of cost and make them literate.
