Cop dies while cleaning pistol

Ludhiana: A senior Khanna Police constable died after he suffered a gunshot injury from his service weapon at the district police office in Khanna on Friday. The deceased was identified as Rashpinder Singh, 36, who was posted as gunman with DSP (child and women cell) Gurmeet Singh. Police said that the deceased was posted with the DSP a few days ago.
Police said the senior constable was cleaning his official 9mm pistol on Friday when he accidentally pressed the trigger. The bullet hit him in the chest and he fell unconscious. Sources added that the seriously injured policeman was rushed to a private hospital in Khanna where he breathed his last during treatment. The body was handed over to his family members for last rites. IG Ludhiana range Dr Kaustabh Sharma said that father of the deceased was also a policeman. tnn
